Andreas Madlung is a Professor in the Biology Department at the University of Puget Sound. He holds a Staatsexamen from the University of Hamburg (1995) and a PhD from Oregon State University (2000). His research focuses on plant genome evolution, phytochrome signaling, and polyploidy effects. Current projects include functional genomics of phytochrome responses and evolutionary studies of plant polyploids. He teaches courses in Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, and Biostatistics. Madlung has secured NSF grants (2011–2026) for studies on flower reversion, phytochrome roles, and light-response transcriptomics. His lab investigates light receptor networks and environmental adaptations in plants.
