Prof. Andrea Weber is a Professor of Economics at the Central European University (CEU), Department of Economics. She is affiliated with the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin Institute, IZA, and CESifo. Her research focuses on labor economics, social insurance systems, gender disparities in labor markets, and applied microeconometrics. She co-edits the Journal of the European Economic Association, and serves on editorial boards for ILR Review and Labour Economics.
Her work examines gender gaps in career trajectories, firm dynamics, political connections’ impact on firms, and family-career trade-offs across regions. Recent studies include analyses of fertility responses to economic shocks and the role of unemployment insurance systems. She leads research projects on transnational labor markets between Austria and Germany.
