His research focuses on labor economics and microeconometrics, particularly examining how economic shocks, discriminatory behaviors, technological change, and migration shape labor market outcomes. A key theme in his work is the analysis of job vacancies and labor demand using novel datasets such as online job postings, firm-level trade records, and sports performance metrics. He investigates issues like gender discrimination in hiring, the impact of trade on skill requirements, automation risk, and the role of moral support in team performance.
His recent publications span top journals including The Review of Economic Studies, Management Science, Science Robotics, and The Economic Journal. He has developed influential methodological tools, notably the acreg Stata package for arbitrary clustering in standard error estimation, which addresses inference challenges in spatial and network data. His work often combines rigorous econometric techniques with real-world policy implications.
Scientific awards and grants recognizing his contributions include the SNF Doc-Mobility grant, EALE Job Market Tour funding, HEC Research grant, Rockwool Foundation Berlin Grant, and the E4S Grant for sustainable economy research.
