Andrea Manoli is a Lecturer in Foundations of English and Cypriot Law at the University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus), part of the School of Law. She holds a PhD in Law (viva pending), an LLM from the University of Nottingham, and an LLB from the University of Leicester. Her research focuses on Criminal Law, Children’s Rights, Rule of Law, and Legal History. She has been a key contributor to interdisciplinary projects like the Jean Monnet Module on EU Law in Populist Times and has published widely on topics including colonial-era children’s rights, pandemic governance, and gender analysis of human rights case law. She is involved in academic leadership roles, including editorial work for the UCLan Cyprus Law Blog and the Interdisciplinary Journal of Populism. Her work emphasizes socio-legal critiques of systemic failings and their impacts on vulnerable groups.
Education: PhD (Law, 2018-present), MA in Security & Diplomacy (UCLan Cyprus, 2017), LLM (Nottingham, 2015), LLB (Leicester, 2013). Professional roles include Board Member of the Licensing Authority (2019–2021) and legal practice with Dr. Andreas P. Poetis & Co. LLC (2014–2018). She is a member of Cyprus Bar Association, Lions Liberty Larnaca, and ICLAIM.
Her research explores intersections of law with historical, social, and political contexts. Recent publications analyze colonial-era children’s rights, pandemic legal responses, and EU governance under populist pressures. She coordinates projects on anti-trafficking determinants and smuggling across Cyprus’ Green Line. Grants include funding from the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
