معرفی
Andrea L. Hevener is a Professor-in-Residence in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). With a PhD in Kinesiology/Physiology & Biophysics from the University of Southern California, her research focuses on the interplay between estrogen receptors, mitochondrial function, and metabolic health, particularly in insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity, and aging.
- Education:
- BS in Sports Medicine, Pepperdine University (1990)
- PhD in Kinesiology/Physiology & Biophysics, University of Southern California (1998)
Her work spans mitochondrial dynamics, sex hormone signaling, and exercise physiology, with recent studies exploring mitochondrial cristae remodeling, myokine signaling, and tissue-specific metabolic responses to exercise. She contributes to aging research through the NIA workshop on heterogeneity in aging and leads NIH-funded projects on ERα in metabolic regulation and mitochondrial quality control.
Key trends in her publications include multi-omic analysis of exercise adaptation, sex differences in metabolic disease, and mitochondrial stress responses. She has received the Sidney Roberts and Clara Szego Roberts Endowed Chair in Molecular/Cellular Endocrinology (2019-2024) and has secured continuous NIH funding since 2001, including R01 grants for ERα mechanisms, mitochondrial dynamics, and systems biology of exercise.
Her research program actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, including the MoTrPAC Consortium, and addresses translational aspects of metabolic diseases through both human and rodent models.
