Andrea Guariso is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics (DEMS) at the University of Milan-Bicocca. He holds affiliations with institutions such as J-PAL (MIT), Trinity College Dublin's TIME unit, and Bocconi University's LEAP. His research focuses on development economics, political economics, health economics, and applied microeconomics, with a specific emphasis on ethnic diversity, healthcare systems, and education policy.
Guariso's work spans multiple regions, particularly in Africa, including large-scale randomized evaluations in health sectors. He has received funding from organizations like J-PAL, IPA, IGC, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His recent projects include studies on vaccine acceptance and community health delivery models in Uganda.
He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Trinity College Dublin and held roles as a consultant for the World Bank and European Commission. His educational background includes a PhD in Economics from KU Leuven and degrees from Bocconi University.
