Andis Sofianos is a Professor of Economics at Durham University's Department of Economics, affiliated with the Durham University Business School. He joined as an Associate Professor in 2022, following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Heidelberg and a PhD from the University of Warwick. His research focuses on experimental economics, particularly how individual characteristics like intelligence and personality traits influence strategic interactions. Key areas include cooperation dynamics, belief updating, and cryptocurrency pricing.
His work has been published in top journals such as the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, and Management Science. Sofianos actively engages in academic collaborations, organizing workshops on behavioral economics and experimental methods. He mentors students and contributes to initiatives like the Durham Economics Mentoring Program.
Notable achievements include a review article on intelligence in experimental economics and replicated studies validating foundational work on intelligence and strategic choices. He is also involved in institutional initiatives, such as hosting the Development Economics Workshop and contributing to the Centre for Macroeconomic Policy (CEMAP).
