Sebastian Schweighofer-Kodritsch is a Junior Professor of Economics (Industrial Organization) at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU) since April 2019, with a positive midterm review in 2022. He holds affiliations with the Berlin School of Economics (BSoE), the Collaborative Research Center Transregio 190 (CRC TRR 190), and the Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP). Previously, he served as an Interim Professor of Microeconomic Theory at HU (2018–2019) and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at HU and WZB Berlin Social Science Center (2013–2019).
His education includes a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (2013), an MRes in Economics (with distinction) from LSE (2009), and degrees from the University of Vienna and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna. His research focuses on Microeconomic Theory (Industrial Organization, Decision Theory) and Experimental Economics (Belief Formation, Gender Discrimination).
He has published in top journals like Econometrica and Games and Economic Behavior, with recent work examining gender discrimination in hiring and the strategic role of patience in bargaining. His grants include funding for workshops on information design and invitations to prestigious conferences. Schweighofer-Kodritsch actively supervises PhD students and teaches advanced microeconomic theory and industrial organization at HU.
