Jana Friedrichsen

Prof. Dr. Jana Friedrichsen holds a professorship in Economics and Ethics at the Department of Economics (Institut für Volkswirtschaftslehre) at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. She previously served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, WZB Berlin Social Science Center, and DIW Berlin. From 2021–2022, she was a guest professor at Freie Universität Berlin. She is affiliated with the CESifo Research Network and the Berlin School of Economics.

Education includes a PhD in Economics from the University of Mannheim (2013–2016), a diploma in Economics from Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (2008–2013), and prior research roles at the University of Mannheim and DIW Berlin.

Her research focuses on applied microeconomic theory, behavioral and experimental economics. Key themes include public economics, industrial organization, political economy, and consumer behavior. Recent work explores fairness in markets, cartel dynamics, and pandemic-related behavioral responses.
