Anders Olsen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, Aalborg University, within the Faculty of Engineering and Science. His research focuses on aging, neurodegeneration, and the use of Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to study host-microbiome interactions, probiotics, and genetic mutations linked to neurological disorders. He leads the Neuroboost research group, exploring mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases.
Key projects include the Lundbeck Foundation Scholarship, where he supervises research on neurodegenerative pathways. His work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing biomedicine and understanding aging processes. Olsen has published over 40 articles, with recent work emphasizing microbiome dynamics, probiotic effects, and molecular mechanisms in neurodegeneration. He actively participates in workshops and conferences, such as the Sino-Danish Center exchange visits and lectures on C. elegans applications in microbiome studies.
Media coverage highlights his innovative use of C. elegans to uncover insights into aging and diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Collaborations span microbiology, genetics, and cell biology, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to geroscience and biomedical research.
