Anant B. Parekh

Anant B. Parekh serves as Professor of Physiology and Director of the Centre for Integrative Physiology at the University of Oxford's Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG) within the Medical Sciences Division. He is also a Fellow of Merton College, Oxford, holding a continuous academic appointment since 1997.

His research focuses on intracellular calcium signalling mechanisms, particularly store-operated calcium channels (CRACs), calcium-dependent exocytosis in mast cells, and the physiological consequences of calcium dysregulation in disease. His laboratory investigates how plasma membrane channels interact with intracellular organelles like mitochondria to generate cellular responses.

Analysis of recent publications reveals consistent focus on CRAC channel pathophysiology across cardiovascular, dermatological, and immunological contexts, with increasing translational emphasis on therapeutic targeting of calcium signaling pathways since 2020.
