Her research focuses on vocabulary acquisition in second languages, employing psycholinguistic measures like eye-tracking and reaction times to study cognitive processes during learning. Key areas include incidental acquisition through reading and subtitled viewing, formulaic language processing, and the relationship between attention distribution and learning outcomes.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in eye-tracking methodologies, with collaborative projects examining gaze-contingent enhancement, multimodal reading effects, and technical vocabulary processing. Funded initiatives span AI-driven language education ('Navigo'), neuro-cognitive disaster vocabulary studies, and eye-tracking-EEG co-registration labs.
Scientific contributions include leadership roles in the Vocabulary Studies SIG (BAAL), co-chairing the London SLARF, and founding the Eye-tracking SIG. Awards include a 2021 nomination for UCL's Outstanding Research Supervision.
She supervises PhD projects on vocabulary teaching/learning and contributes to MA programs in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, teaching modules on second language acquisition, research methods, and TESOL fundamentals.
