Megumi Hamada is a Professor of English at Ball State University, affiliated with the Department of English in the College of Sciences and Humanities. Her research focuses on English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) reading and vocabulary acquisition, integrating psycholinguistic theories to study college students and low-literate adult refugees.
Education: PhD in Second Language Acquisition from Carnegie Mellon University (2005), MA in Linguistics/TESOL from California State University, Fresno (2001).
Her publications include studies on TESOL teacher education programs, cognitive models of vocabulary learning, and cross-linguistic influences in second language processing. She teaches courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and maintains an active research agenda in applied linguistics.
