Ana M. Abrantes is a Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her research focuses on innovative interventions for substance use disorders, including alcohol, nicotine dependence, and cannabis use, with a strong emphasis on digital health tools such as smartphone apps, text messaging, and neurostimulation (tDCS). She also leads groundbreaking work in physical activity promotion for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, leveraging technology like Fitbit and peer-facilitated approaches.
