معرفی
Andrea King is a Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience-Research. Her clinical interests focus on substance use disorders, tobacco and alcohol addictions in medical and psychiatric patients, and cancer prevention and control. King's research investigates risk factors and biological vulnerabilities in substance use disorders, evaluates behavioral and pharmacological treatments for nicotine and alcohol addiction, and targets interventions for minority and underserved smokers.
- Ph.D., University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (1992)
- Post-doctoral Fellowship, University of Pennsylvania (1994)
- Internship, New York Medical College, St. Vincent’s Hospital (1995)
- Illinois Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Her research employs high-resolution ecological momentary assessment (HR-EMA) and pharmacological challenge studies to examine alcohol and nicotine cue reactivity, reward mechanisms, and treatment efficacy. She has pioneered remote monitoring tools for alcohol and tobacco use and developed culturally targeted cessation programs for disadvantaged populations.
Recent publications emphasize alcohol use disorder and electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), with methodologies ranging from clinical trials to biomarker analysis, machine learning, and cross-cultural comparisons. Key themes include addiction phenotyping, public health disparities, and digital health innovations.
Andrea King has secured over 15 NIH grants as Principal Investigator since 1996, including current projects on GLP-1/GIP receptor agonists for smoking cessation (U01DA064384) and natural environment alcohol assessment (R21AA029746). She has mentored numerous researchers and contributed to policy frameworks for tobacco and alcohol interventions.
