Amy Whitaker

Dr. Amy Whitaker is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Drexel University College of Medicine. She leads the Whitaker Lab, where her research focuses on molecular mechanisms linking DNA damage responses and gene regulation in cancer development.

Her primary research investigates two interconnected biological processes:

• Base excision repair (BER) pathways for oxidative DNA damage
• Epigenetic-like transcriptional regulation of tumor suppressors and oncogenes

This work specifically targets G-quadruplex forming sequences, with the long-term goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.
