Amy Chang serves as a Staff Lecturer in the Professional and Graduate Education (PaGE) department at Mount Holyoke College, leveraging 20+ years of experience in elementary mathematics education and teacher training to support graduate programs in mathematics teaching.
Chang holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Research focuses on creating rigorous, open mathematical communities through evidence-based practices in early numeracy development, differentiated instruction, and student reasoning frameworks. Their work bridges classroom implementation with systemic teacher training, particularly in K-8 settings across the Pioneer Valley region.
Awards and honors include:
- Math Recovery Champion certification (2016)
- Amherst Education Foundation Excellence Grant for Math Recovery teacher training (2016)
- Amherst Education Foundation Excellence Grant for Math Recovery teacher training (2017)
Chang has provided extensive consulting services for K-8 mathematics professional development and previously served as adjunct faculty at Westfield State University and visiting instructor for Mount Holyoke's Master of Mathematics Teaching and Master of Arts in Teaching programs, directly mentoring future educators through curriculum design and pedagogical coaching.
