James Hanson serves as a Lecturer at Mount Holyoke College within the School of Professional and Graduate Education. Concurrently, he works as a K-5 Math Coach for Northampton Public Schools, where his responsibilities encompass co-teaching, co-planning rigorous mathematics lessons, leading department meetings, and delivering in-district professional development.
His educational qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst
- Master of Arts in Teaching in Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College (completed in 2016)
Hanson's professional focus centers on K-12 mathematics education, with extensive experience developing adaptive curricula for diverse student populations. His work spans secondary instruction (Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus, Applied Mathematics, and the Interactive Mathematics Program) and elementary coaching, emphasizing teacher development and innovative pedagogy.
