معرفی
Amos M Sakwe is an Associate Professor at Meharry Medical College's School of Graduate Studies and Research. His research focuses on cancer biology, particularly mechanisms of breast cancer progression involving Annexin A6, calcium signaling pathways, and extracellular vesicle dynamics. He investigates tumor microenvironment adaptations, treatment resistance in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) biomarkers.
Key research themes include: 1) Annexin A6's role in TNBC metastasis and therapeutic resistance, 2) Calcium-sensing receptor variants in high-calcium microenvironments, 3) Fetuin-A's effects on tumor invasion/exosome secretion, and 4) Defensin-based IBD diagnostics. Recent work explores probiotic-incretin synergies for obesity management and antibody-based therapies targeting DEFA5 in IBD.
His lab has identified novel biomarkers like the A986S CaSR variant and demonstrated therapeutic potential through exosome modulation. Active projects include NIH-funded studies on annexin A6/RasGRF2 interactions and CaSR-driven metabolic reprogramming in cancer cells.
Labs/Teams: Center for Women’s Health Research at Meharry Medical College. Collaborations span molecular oncology, immunology, and translational medicine with institutions like Vanderbilt University and NIH.
