Amit Achhra, MD, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Infectious Diseases department at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as Co-Director of the Yale HIV TT Primary Care Residency Program and specializes in HIV primary care, managing complex HIV resistance cases, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and COVID-19 therapeutics.

Dr. Achhra's research focuses on implementation of HIV care strategies, STI research, and clinical trials in HIV and COVID-19. His work examines anal cancer screening in men who have sex with men with HIV, kidney health outcomes related to antiretroviral therapy timing, and hepatitis manifestations during primary HIV infection. His publications demonstrate expertise in HIV treatment complications, screening protocols, and management of comorbid conditions in immunocompromised patients.
Dr. Achhra has received recognition including the Outstanding Teaching Award During Internal Medicine Primary Care Residency (2024) and the Deans List Award for outstanding PhD research at UNSW Australia (2011). His scholarly contributions span implementation science, clinical guidelines development, and research on HIV-associated complications across multiple organ systems.
