Dr. Amina Adanan is an Assistant Professor of Law at Maynooth University's School of Law and Criminology. She specializes in international criminal law, human rights law, and the history of international law, with a focus on universal jurisdiction and atrocity crimes prosecution. Amina is Co-Director of the Research Centre in International Justice and has held prestigious awards like the Royal Irish Academy’s Charlemont Grant (2021) and the Irish Research Council’s New Foundations Award (2022). She actively engages in policy work, including prisoner rights advocacy and mixed-race Irish rights.
Education: PhD in Human Rights (2018, University of Galway), MA in International Relations (DCU), LL.B. & BA International (University of Galway). She teaches International Criminal Law, Property Law, and Fundamental Rights in Ireland.
Research Projects include advancing prisoners' rights through strategic litigation, examining migrant experiences in Ireland’s penal system, and analyzing the UNWCC’s role in universal jurisdiction. She has published in journals like Journal of International Criminal Justice and International Criminal Law Review, and contributes to policy briefs and blogs.
