Amil M. Shah is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, serving as Director of Population Sciences and the Dallas Hearts and Minds Study. He holds the Dallas Heart Ball Chair in Cardiac Research and the Hoffman Endowment in Public Health. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the UT Southwestern O’Donnell School of Public Health.
Education: BA from Brown University, MD from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, MPH from Harvard School of Public Health. Completed residencies and fellowships at Penn, Tufts, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School.
Research focuses on cardiac dysfunction and heart failure mechanisms, using multimodal imaging (echocardiography, CT, SPECT) and multi-omics (proteomics, metabolomics) in clinical trials and observational cohorts. His NIH-funded program includes 6 R01 grants and a K24 award.
Awards include membership in prestigious societies (ASCI, AUC) and fellowships from ACC/AHA. He leads the Brigham and Women’s Cardiac Imaging Core Lab, a global clinical trial hub, and serves on NIH review panels, including NHLBI’s SSPT Study Section.
