Amelia Crowther is a Doctoral Tutor and Research Associate in the Department of Film Studies at the University of Sussex, affiliated with the Faculty of Media, Arts and Humanities. She is currently completing her PhD in Gender Studies (Humanities) while teaching Film Analysis and British Cinema modules.
- Specializes in cinematic representations of female unruliness through witch figures
- Focuses on intersections of gender, sexuality, and monstrosity in film

Her research examines historical shifts in witch archetypes across American cinema genres, analyzing how patriarchal fears and feminist resistance manifest in horror, fantasy, and romantic comedy narratives. Current teaching roles complement her academic work exploring gothic and monstrous themes in film.
