Amanda Le Kline is an Associate Professor & Department Chair in Art at Otterbein University. She combines photography, video, installation, collage, and performance to explore intersections of art history, anthropology, identity, and women and gender studies.
- MFA in Visual Arts from The Ohio State University (2014)
- BA in Photography from Lycoming College (2008)
Her research examines gendered divisions of labor in domestic contexts, working-class identity, and community narratives through participatory art. Key projects include:
- Death by Domesticity: Analyzes traditional gender roles and class divisions using self-portraiture.
- South Side Stories: Collaborates with Jessica Naples Grilli to archive community histories in Columbus.
- Kline's Mechanical and Hardware: Documents her family's legacy in Strausstown, Pennsylvania.
- Portrait of Strausstown: Investigates rural working-class identity amid industrialization.
Kline's practice bridges personal heritage with academic inquiry, often addressing tensions between high/low culture and community preservation. She facilitates community engagement through The Page Collective.
