Amanda Hodges is an Associate Professor of English and Chair of Humanities at Newberry College since 2011. She earned her Ph.D. in English Education from the University of Georgia (2011), alongside a M.A.T. (1998) and B.A. (1997) from Agnes Scott College.

Hodges specializes in intersections of pop culture studies and writing pedagogies, particularly examining fanfiction and identity. Her research spans transformative works, science fiction, and fantasy literature, influencing courses like space fantasy, steampunk fiction, and literary narration. She has published in The English Journal and The Journal of Transformative Works and Cultures, with contributions to the National Council of Teachers of English Teaching and Learning Forum.
Her accolades include dual 2018 teaching awards: the SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award and the student-voted Newberry College SGA Teacher of the Year Award. She actively presents at regional, national, and international conferences.
