Dr. Christine Schott is an Associate Professor of English at Erskine College, where she has taught since 2012. She specializes in Medieval Literature, World Literature, and Creative Writing, and her teaching spans courses like Composition and Literature, History of the English Language, and Fiction/Nonfiction Writing. Dr. Schott holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, M.A. degrees from the University of Virginia and University of Iceland, an M.F.A. from Converse College, and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
Her research bridges medieval studies and modern contexts, focusing on how past literature influences contemporary culture. She published Canon Fanfiction (2023) and has contributed to journals like Medieval Institute Publications and The Midwest Quarterly. Her creative work includes poetry, fiction, and a Pushcart Prize nomination in 2021.
Dr. Schott has received multiple teaching accolades, including the Younts Excellence in Teaching Award (2014, 2019) and the SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award (2018). She actively engages students through international travel programs and emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to literature and pedagogy.
