Amanda Bills is a Doctoral student and Researcher in Public International Law at the Department of Law, Faculty of Law, Lund University. She teaches undergraduate and advanced courses in public international law and supervises master's theses.
Her educational background includes:
- LL.M degree from Lund University
- Studies in international law, human rights, and international relations at Université Jean Moulin Lyon III, Lyon, France
- Human rights internship at Sweden's Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva
Her research centers on evidentiary standards at the International Court of Justice, UN institutional law, and state responsibility. She actively presents at international forums including iCourts Centre for Excellence (Copenhagen), Grotius Centre PhD Reading Group (Leiden), and IVR Sweden conferences.
Publications consistently analyze judicial decision-making mechanisms at the ICJ, with emphasis on differentiated standards of proof, exceptional gravity charges, and enforcement of obligations erga omnes through Chapter VII frameworks.
Amanda supervises master's theses on sanctions law and coached Lund University's Telders Moot Court team in 2022. She organizes academic outreach events with Lund's Law Doctoral Student Council and Law Students' Union, including panel participation in International Law Week 2024.
