Amanda Kron is a Doctoral Candidate and Researcher at Lund University's Department of Law, specializing in environmental law, human rights, and international law. Her research focuses on human rights and environmental due diligence within the context of the European Green Deal and associated regulatory frameworks. She contributes to academic discourse through her research and teaching activities at Lund University.
Her research interests span several critical contemporary legal domains:
- Human rights and environmental protection intersections
- Environmental due diligence frameworks
- Sustainable development and business and human rights
- Environmental peacebuilding in conflict zones
- Implementation of the right to a healthy environment
- International legal frameworks for environmental governance
Kron's scholarly trajectory demonstrates a progression from foundational work on environmental protection in armed conflicts toward increasingly sophisticated analyses of environmental due diligence mechanisms within international regulatory frameworks. Her recent publications show particular emphasis on implementing environmental rights through corporate sustainability reporting and environmental due diligence legislation, with her 2025 consultation paper representing the cutting edge of this research direction.
Professionally, Kron has held significant positions at international organizations, having served as Associate Expert on Climate Change and Environment at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (2019-2022) and as Legal Advisor and Project Coordinator at the UN Environment Program's Crisis Management Branch (2015-2019). She has also contributed as a research assistant at the International Law Commission.
As an educator, Kron teaches international law, environmental law and human rights law at Lund University's Master's program in Human Rights Studies and in the Swedish professional law degree program. Her current doctoral project 'Understanding human rights and environmental due diligence' is supervised by Dr. Davitti with Dr. Sjöstedt as co-supervisor, and she remains actively engaged in academic networks through presentations at conferences including the AHRI Conference and workshops at Tilburg University.
