Britta Sjöstedt is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Law at Lund University, serving as Research Coordinator for Environmental Law and a Researcher in Public International Law. Her work focuses on environmental peacebuilding, protection of the environment in armed conflict, and the role of environmental defenders in conflict zones. She leads major projects funded by Formas and the Marianne och Marcus Wallenbergs Stiftelse, exploring legal frameworks for post-conflict environmental restoration and the EU’s role in a just green transition.
Key projects include an Erasmus+ initiative (Gromada) addressing environmental recovery in Ukraine and multidisciplinary collaborations examining environmental defenders in Colombia and the historical rule of law in the DRC. Her expertise aligns with UN SDGs 13 (Climate Action), 15 (Life on Land), and 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
