Alyssa Abbey is an Assistant Professor and Graduate Advisor in the Earth Science Department at California State University Long Beach. She earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of Michigan in 2018 and holds dual B.S. and B.A. degrees in Geosciences and French from the University of Arizona (2012).

- Tectonics and Crustal Deformation
- Surface Processes and Landscape Evolution
- Thermochronology and Geochronology
- Geoscience Education Innovation
Recent Projects:
- NSF CAREER award (2024) for tectonic deformation studies in Basin and Range/Walker Lane
- AGeS-TRaCE grant (2025) for thermal history modeling tools
- AGeS-DiG grant (2023) supporting 1st-gen student geochronology research
Scientific Contributions:
- Pioneered thermal history modeling frameworks (QTQt/HeFTy) with benchmark TT-paths
- Education research focused on field experiences and student workforce readiness
- Lead fieldwork in Argentina Precordillera and Colorado rift systems
