Allison King is a Professor of Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery (Division of Public Health Sciences), and Education at Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a PhD in Education from Saint Louis University (2015), an MPH in Public Health from Saint Louis University (2003), an MD from the University of Missouri School of Medicine (1996), and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Washington University (1992).

Her research focuses on educational attainment and self-sufficiency challenges faced by children with chronic illnesses like sickle cell disease (SCD) and brain tumors. Key areas include: socioeconomic factors affecting academic achievement, family dynamics, vocational training programs, and transitions to adult medical care. She leads initiatives to improve educational access through partnerships with community organizations and federally-qualified health centers.
Current projects include:
- Evaluating executive function in brain tumor patients
- Developing triage programs for young adults with chronic diseases
- Community outreach on sickle cell trait awareness
Laboratory affiliations include the Child Health and Education Laboratory. She collaborates with local churches and health centers to implement genetic counseling and educational triage programs.
