Alister Chapman is a Professor of History and Chair of the History Department at Westmont College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, where he completed both his undergraduate and doctoral studies. His academic work focuses on British History, Modern European History, and the intersection of religion with societal changes.
Dr. Chapman's research explores topics such as secularization trends, civil religions in urban contexts, and the role of religious intellectuals during pivotal historical moments like World War II and the Cold War era. He has authored significant works including Godly Ambition: John Stott and the Evangelical Movement and maintains a blog, The Rest of the Iceberg, which contextualizes historical events for contemporary understanding.
