معرفی
Alison Simmons is a Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Oxford and serves as Director of the MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit. She is also a Consultant Physician with clinical expertise in gastrointestinal diseases. Her research focuses on the intersection of immune-mediated diseases and gut biology.
- Education: PhD, FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians), FMedSci (Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences)
Research Interests: Her work investigates inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) through single-cell analysis of intestinal development, T cell dynamics in colitis, and dendritic cell function in immunity. She explores autophagy in immune responses and pathogen- immune interactions.
Scientific Contributions: Recent publications highlight checkpoint inhibitor-induced colitis, single-cell atlases of gut immunity, and Salmonella immune evasion mechanisms. Her 2024 Cancer Cell study on T cells in colitis is a key contribution.
Scientific Awards:
- PhD
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP)
- Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci)
Labs and Collaborations: Leads the MRC Translational Immune Discovery Unit, integrating clinical and computational biology to address immune-driven pathologies. Collaborates on IBD BioResource and SARS-CoV-2 studies.
