Richard Cornall is the Nuffield Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford and Head of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine. He is also a Professor of Immunology and an MRC Investigator, affiliated with Magdalen College, Oxford.
- Major research focus: understanding immune system formation, regulation, and causes of autoimmunity, particularly systemic autoimmune diseases.
- Collaborates with Professor Simon Davis on lymphocyte engineering for cancer and inflammation.
- Uses transgenic models to study genetic susceptibility to autoimmunity and immunodeficiency.
His research explores how adverse immune reactions to self/foreign antigens cause disease burden and how natural selection maintains genetic variation in immune responses.
