Alison Hartley serves as Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) in the Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Bradford, with strategic oversight of academic programs across multiple healthcare disciplines including nursing, midwifery, public health, healthcare leadership, radiography, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and paramedic science. She is a member of the Faculty Leadership team, represents the Faculty on University governance committees including Senate, and serves as Deputy Chair for the University Learning and Teaching Committee.

Her research focuses on collaborative and active learning methodologies, student-led peer learning, and the use of social networks to support student experience in healthcare education. Her current PhD research explores the longitudinal use of social networking among undergraduate healthcare students, leading the University of Bradford in a Positive Digital Communities workstream for an Office for Students commissioned multi-site project.
Alison has extensive experience in curriculum design across various Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) and university quality assurance frameworks. Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs covering Public Health, Determinants of Health, Health Inequalities, Substance Misuse, and Pharmacological treatment of pain.
With a clinical/academic background in pharmacy, she has dedicated her career to addressing health inequalities, particularly working in communities with high levels of deprivation and specializing in substance misuse. She remains an active registered pharmacist while pursuing her academic career.
Alison also serves as a mentor for colleagues across the university, supporting staff through promotion pathways and Advance HE fellowship progression, and is an experienced investigator for staff and student casework.
