Alison Mckinney serves as an Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Bradford. She maintains a permanent part-time position while working two and a half days per week as the Lead Pharmacist for Education & Training at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, demonstrating her commitment to bridging clinical practice with academic instruction.
With extensive experience in hospital pharmacy across district general hospitals, Dr. Mckinney has developed clinical expertise spanning medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, critical care, and paediatrics. Her clinical background includes managing outpatient anticoagulant clinics and formulating neonatal and adult parenteral nutrition solutions. Her educational journey began with an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Leeds, followed by a Master of Education that transitioned her into teaching.

At the University of Bradford, she joined the lecturing staff in 2012, initially in temporary positions covering maternity leaves. She served as interim programme leader for the Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (Secondary Care) during 2015-16 and currently serves as module leader for the second-year Applied Therapeutics module, shaping the education of future pharmacists.
