Alexandre Pépin

Alexandre Pépin is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Studio Art (Painting & Drawing) at the University of Texas at Austin. Born in Montréal and currently based in Austin, his work explores Queer intimacy and spiritual contemplation through historical art movements such as Byzantine and Early Renaissance Frescoes, Post-Impressionism, Tonalism, The Viennese Secession, and Pattern and Decoration. He has received notable grants, including the Quebec Arts and Letters Council Grant (2017) and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Fellowship (2019). Pépin’s practice includes residencies at the Vermont Studio Center (2017) and Ox-Bow School of Arts (2021). Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Arsenal Contemporary (NYC, 2022) and Bradley Ertaskiran (Montreal, 2023), alongside participation in NADA NYC (2023) and Platform (2023). His work has been reviewed in prominent publications like Esse Arts + Opinions (2021), New American Painting (2022), and Glasstire (2022).
