Alexandra Goujon is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Burgundy-Franche-Comté in Dijon, France, and a researcher at CREDESPO (Centre de Recherche et de Documentation sur l'Europe et les Sociétés Politiques d'Outre-mer). She serves on the laboratory council of CREDESPO and has held significant positions including elected member (2009-2015) and second vice-president (2011-2015) of section 04 of the National University Council. She co-led the 'Démocraties, autoritarismes' research group of the French Political Science Association (2019-2022) and serves on international editorial boards for Nationalities Papers and as a consultant for the Association for the Study of Nationalities.
Her research focuses on nationalism, democratic transitions, comparative political regimes, and political life in post-Soviet states, with particular expertise on Ukraine and Belarus. Goujon has published extensively on Ukrainian and Belarusian politics, including several monographs such as L'Ukraine. De l'indépendance à la guerre (2021) and Révolutions politiques et identitaires en Ukraine et en Biélorussie (1988-2008) (2009). Her work examines the intersection of national identity, political transitions, and memorial politics in Eastern Europe.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward analyzing contemporary Ukrainian politics, with increasing focus on the Maidan revolution, the Donbas conflict, and Ukraine's war with Russia. Her scholarship bridges theoretical political science with urgent contemporary issues, particularly examining how historical memory shapes current political conflicts and national identity formation in Ukraine.
