Dr. Yulıya Biletska is a Lecturer at Karabük University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations, where she has been employed full-time since 2013. She also serves as the Erasmus Coordinator at the university. Previously, she held a part-time position as Associate Professor at Middle East Technical University's Institute of Social Sciences in the Eurasian Studies Program (2016-2017).
Dr. Biletska's educational background includes a PhD from Taurida National University Named After V.I. Vernadsky in Ukraine (2009-2011), a Master's degree in Eurasian Studies from Middle East Technical University, Turkey (2007-2009), another Master's degree in Political Sciences from Taurida National University (2006-2007), and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the same Ukrainian institution (2002-2006).
Her research focuses on Post-Soviet Studies, with particular emphasis on Ukraine, Crimea, and the Crimean Tatars. She has extensively studied ethnic identity formation, nationalism, state building in post-Soviet contexts, ethno-religious politics, and Ukrainian diaspora studies. Her work often examines the intersection of historical trauma, collective memory, and national identity in Eastern Europe, with recent publications addressing the Holodomor, Ukrainian political transformation after Maidan, and the impact of Russian annexation of Crimea.
Dr. Biletska has supervised four master's students to completion, with thesis topics covering soft power perspectives on Kazakh gender roles in Turkey, feminist foreign policy in Swedish security policies, Turkey-Ukraine relations in Black Sea security, and the impact of the Donbas War on Ukrainian national identity.
