Anna Chebotarova is a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo's Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages. She holds a sociology background from Central European University (Budapest) and is engaged in the international VALREF project on post-Maidan Ukraine. Previously, she coordinated the 'Ukrainian Regionalism' project at the University of St. Gallen and is affiliated with the Lviv-based Center for Urban History.
Her research focuses on nation-building in post-Soviet Europe, collective memory dynamics, and regional identity. Key interests include the interplay between history, politics, and societal belonging in transitional contexts. Current work examines war's societal impact in Ukraine and the politics of historical memory in post-Soviet spaces.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on Eastern European political systems, Ukrainian language for Slavists, and regional history. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects analyzing Ukraine's sociocultural heterogeneity and post-Euromaidan transformations.
Her academic trajectory combines academic research with project coordination, reflecting a commitment to bridging scholarly inquiry with practical engagement in Eastern European studies.
