Geir Flikke is a Professor at the University of Oslo's Faculty of Humanities, based in the Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages. His research focuses on Russian and Ukrainian politics, history, culture, and society with emphasis on post-communist dynamics, authoritarian regimes, and political structures. He has held roles including Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and Deputy Member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee (2021–2026). His recent publications analyze Ukraine’s wartime governance, Russian legal restrictions, and authoritarian sovereignization strategies. He teaches courses such as RUS1501 and SLAV1001, and leads research projects like 'National values and political reforms in post-Maidan Ukraine'.
Key affiliations include the Area Studies research group and involvement in political organizations like the Nesodden Conservative Party (2018–2020). His work bridges academic research with policy analysis, addressing contemporary issues in Eastern European politics and international relations.
