Stephen Whitefield is a Professor of Politics at the University of Oxford's Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR), and Rhodes Pelczynski Tutorial Fellow in Politics at Pembroke College. He specializes in post-Communist politics, democratisation, social inequality, and political parties. His research focuses on comparative politics of Russia and Eastern Europe, including studies on political culture, European integration, and electoral behavior.

Research Interests: Whitefield explores post-Communist transitions, the political implications of social inequality, and the dynamics of party competition in turbulent contexts.
