Alexander Schlutz is an Associate Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the CUNY Graduate Center. He holds a PhD from the University of Washington and an MA from the University of Tübingen, specializing in Comparative Literature, English, and French Literature. His research bridges Romantic-era literature and philosophy, with a focus on ecology and environmental justice. Schlutz coordinated John Jay’s Sustainability and Environmental Justice program (2014–2020) and authored *Mind’s World*, winner of the 2009 Jean-Pierre Barricelli Prize for Romanticism Studies. He co-edited *Im Prozeß der Kultur* (2008) and edited *Essays in Romanticism*. Schlutz co-founded the interdisciplinary journal *parapluie* (1997–2014), serving as editor-in-chief. His work examines intersections of law, myth, and urban studies in Romantic texts, with recent contributions to ecocritical analysis and Hoffmann scholarship.
