Alexander Geddes is a Stipendiary Lecturer in Philosophy at Oriel College and St Hilda's College, University of Oxford. He previously held roles at Exeter College, King's College London, Antwerp's Centre for Philosophical Psychology, and The Queen's College. His academic background includes a PhD from University College London (Philosophy), BPhil from Oriel College (Philosophy), and BA from King's College London (Philosophy).
Research focuses on intersections between metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of biology. Key areas include temporal fixity, consciousness studies, and metaphysical puzzles related to pregnancy and biological individuality. He critiques theories of parthood relations and explores methodological issues in thought experiments.
Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, covering logic, philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and philosophy of language. Current roles include undergraduate lectures in philosophy of mind and a graduate seminar on self and mind.
