Sean Crawford is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at The University of Manchester. He holds a D.Phil from the University of Oxford and has held academic positions at institutions including Lancaster University and King's College London. His research focuses on philosophy of language, mind, and action, with a particular emphasis on intentionality, propositional attitudes, and the history of analytic philosophy. He has contributed to resolving paradoxes in belief theory and has conducted historical analyses of figures like Russell, Wittgenstein, and the Logical Positivists.
Education: BA (Simon Fraser University), MA (Dalhousie University), D.Phil (University of Oxford).
Research interests include Russellian solutions to belief puzzles, perceptual demonstrative de re belief, and historical studies of analytic philosophy. He currently supervises doctoral students in philosophy of language and mind, and serves as an External Examiner at King's College London.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Philosophy of Mind and graduate seminars on consciousness and research skills. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
