Alessandro Pagano

Alessandro Pagano is a PhD Candidate in Japanese Language and Translation at the University of Bologna, Italy. He holds a Bachelor's Degree (2019) and Master's Degree (2022) in Comparative Studies and Asian Languages from the University of Naples 'L’Orientale'. As a Research Fellow at Stony Brook University, he collaborates with Dr. Eriko Sato on research intersecting translation and translanguaging in Japanese language education.

Research Interests: His work focuses on sociolinguistics/pragmatics of Japanese and Italian, translation pedagogy, translanguaging as a learning tool, and intercultural communication challenges in Japanese politeness systems. He emphasizes language learning frameworks that integrate intercultural competence development.
