Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, emphasizing econometric techniques for performance measurement, efficiency evaluation, and competition analysis in banking, regulated utilities, and healthcare sectors. Key areas include regulatory reforms’ impact on industry performance—particularly in banking markets—and the application of stochastic methods to assess healthcare efficiency.
Ferrari has contributed to consulting projects for public and private institutions, leveraging her expertise in applied economic analysis. Her work bridges theoretical econometric modeling with real-world policy implications, spanning regions such as Asia, the Eurozone, and developing economies.
Her publications address topics like banking efficiency convergence in the EU and Southern Mediterranean regions, post-crisis regulatory reforms in Asia, and the effects of deregulation on Indian commercial banking. She has also examined hospital efficiency post-NHS reforms and competition dynamics in electricity markets.
Ferrari’s research highlights interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating economics, finance, and policy analysis. Her work emphasizes evidence-based insights for policymakers aiming to enhance sectoral efficiency and market competitiveness through structured regulatory frameworks.
