Dr. Tomoe Moore is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy and Finance at Brunel University London, where she has been employed since September 2007. She previously taught at Coventry University and served as a visiting lecturer at Loughborough University. Her professional experience includes consulting for the African Development Bank, conducting seminars on poverty-reduction monetary policy for Central Banks and Ministries of Finance in Eastern African countries, and speaking at a flow of funds workshop organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Moore holds a PhD in Economics and Finance from Loughborough University, where she also earned her MSc (with Distinction) and BSc in Economics. Her doctoral research was funded by the DFID 'Finance and Development' program, establishing her early focus on development economics and financial systems in emerging markets.
Her research spans macroeconomics and finance within emerging and developing economies, with particular expertise in flow of funds analysis in general equilibrium frameworks, monetary policy for developing economies, and the banking sector's market structure in relation to profitability and competition. She examines how financial regulations impact banking stability, how macroprudential policies affect bank resilience, and the relationship between bank efficiency and economic growth in developing contexts. Her methodology often combines theoretical economic modeling with empirical analysis of real-world financial data.
Analysis of her recent publications (2018-2024) reveals a strong focus on the intersection of banking regulation, macroprudential policy, and economic development. Dr. Moore has extensively examined how capital inflows affect developing countries' import patterns, how economic support packages impact firm performance during crises like COVID-19, and how banking regulations influence market competition and stability. Her work bridges theoretical economic models with practical policy implications, particularly for emerging markets navigating global financial integration and crises.
