Dr. Sailesh Tanna is a Principal Lecturer at Coventry University's School of Economics Finance and Accounting, within the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds a PhD from London South Bank University and advanced degrees from the London School of Economics. His career includes academic roles at institutions such as the University of Warwick and University of Leicester, alongside research collaborations in economics and finance.
Education:
- BSc (Econ) in Statistics from LSE (1980)
- MSc in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from LSE (1982)
- PhD in Economics from South Bank Polytechnic (now University of the Arts London)
Research Interests: Dr. Tanna focuses on quantitative methods applied to economics and financial management, with recent emphasis on banking, mergers & acquisitions (M&As), and financial regulation. His work examines how banking institutions respond to deregulation, crises, and policy changes, addressing macroeconomic stability and regulatory frameworks.
Recent Research Projects:
- Banking Sector M&As, Regulations and Efficiency (£3,000 grant, 2006–2008)
- Banking Sector Consolidation and Performance (£6,000 grant, 2012)
Teaching and Supervision: He teaches modules like Emerging Markets Finance and Quantitative Methods, and actively supervises PhD students in finance and banking. His former advisees hold academic roles globally.
Professional Roles: Visiting Research Fellow at Technical University of Crete’s Financial Engineering Lab since 2005; editorial board member and referee for academic journals; Scientific Committee member of the Financial and Engineering Banking Society.
