She joined the faculty in 2012 and held the prestigious Carnegie Corporation of New York Professor of Social Entrepreneurship appointment from 2016 to 2021.

Her work specifically examines the social and behavioral contexts affecting women and young children in low-income environments, with empathy, ideation, and iteration serving as foundational principles in both her teaching and research methodology.
Her academic instruction includes community nutrition and maternal child health from a life course perspective. Research publications span reproductive health services, breastfeeding and nutrition practices, child development, and everyday care practices during pregnancy and the newborn period. As a maternal and child health researcher, her work has received funding from major international organizations including the United Nations World Health Organization and UNICEF.
